Birchtree Charter School Principal Hired

The members of the Academic Policy Committee for Birchtree Charter School are proud to announce that they have selected Dr. Susan McCauley to be the school's principal, pending Mat-Su School District School Board approval. 

For the past five years, Dr. McCauley has served as Director of Education for the Mat-Su School District. Her 20-year career in education began as an elementary teacher in Pennsylvania. From there she moved to Alaska and spent 4 years teaching in the Lower Yukon School District.  Her previous principal tenures include principal of Glacier View School and assistant principal of Colony Middle School. Dr. McCauley brings to the Birchtree community an extensive knowledge of MSBSD procedure and policy, curriculum, teaching methodology, and child development.  In interviewing for the position, Dr. McCauley expressed enthusiasm for Birchtree's philosophy of providing an education for children in a manner that generates an inner enthusiasm for learning and that meets each child's intellectual, physical and emotional needs.
